For some reason my camera appreciate is opening a crippled version of the application, with only camera and selfies as modes. When I open the camera from the lock screen, it behaves normally. It appears that it is running two instances, but I have no idea why. It's an htc m8, anyone else have this issue?

I don't know much, but usually I'd just reinstall the program.

In the app manager how many camera applications are there? Are you only using the stock camera app?
May want to try clearing the camera data/cache - should only be user settings it deletes.

Only one, and yes, stock app. I had it "fixed" last night, went to use it today and it was back. I'm using google launcher, so maybe that is messing it up somehow?

Sounds like it. The camera app on the m8 isn't the most reliable as is from what I've experienced. But having the Google launcher there could be a conflict with sense or where the camera is being launched from. Go back to stock and see if issue continues?
